Memorial Day marks the beginning of the summer season and with that in mind, many of you will be spending a lot of time outdoors. Follow these SIX  simple steps below to help maximize your sun protection and preserve your youthful appearance. Make sun protection your #1 priority this holiday weekend!

Not only does sun protection prevent sunburns, but also significantly reduces your risk for skin cancer development and slows down the process of environmental aging from damaging UV radiation.

  1. Broad-spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 30 or greater applied 30 minutes before sun exposure AND every 2 hours thereafter while outside
  2. Seek shade when possible
  3. Wide brim hats, sunglasses, and sun protective clothing are ideal
  4. REMEMBER, a sunburn is ALREADY a sign of skin DNA damage and increases your risk of developing skin cancers
  5. Drink plenty of water to replenish the body water that was evaporated
  6. Enjoy the outdoors
